Messy Play
Here's a question for y'all. How come it's only fun if ALL the toys are out at the same time? This is a picture from last week. There are no pictures of the little sick kids this week. (I think they sensed that I had made fun plans for this Saturday-now cancelled-and jointly got sick) E has the flu and A has a cold(double ear infection). Not fun taking pictures of them being bored and tired and sick. Nor are the pictures of their sleep-deprived parents going on here. So here's a look back at better times.

Weekend Catch-up
Well Gdad(love that name) finished the garage swings and there is a picture of the kids here enjoying them. Also of E riding his bike around. Also, when Gnny put A to bed on Friday night he wouldn't let go of the book she was reading him and fell asleep with it. So cute...he was still like that when M and I got home from our movie night.(Went to see the new Jms Bnd 00 movie.....not great by the way.)
Daddy Snack
Further reasons why they love daddy more. M made them their snack the other day......and I had to take a picture of it to put on the blog. I guess this would be more meaningful if I also had a picture of how I prepare their snacks but you can well imagine that they are typically not this pretty and have been known to include bags/boxes of crackers put on the table for 'helping yourself'.

The Great Soother Caper--Read the story
Well, I have taken to putting A's soothers up in the a.m. so he will not use them and will use his words more. And this strategy has been quite successful. However, over the week I have noticed that he seems to always have one in his mouth. Everytime this would happen I would take it away and wonder.......that's weird. Thinking I must have left one in his crib or maybe he found one in my purse. As the week wore on I started to seriously think that I was losing it. Then, the other evening I'm upstairs with the two of them and turn around and Voila! a soother in his mouth. Now I'm seriously perplexed, the soothers are always kept high up on a shelf in their room. Until I see E in the room. So I ask him,"Do you know how A got a soother?" And he says, "yeah, I got him one." So I'm all, "huh? he's not supposed to have them when he's up." And he says, "ya well he's happier when he has one so whenever he wants one I climb up and get him one." What a hoot. Now they are starting to work together!!!!! I'm in trouble now.

Daddy Garage Play
Well daddy was watching the boys while I was cooking dinner and they were out in the garage. I heard laughs and went out to see what was going on. They had set up a balance beam and E was loving it. A was not so sure. Then M and E decided that EXTREME balance beam was in order and they put it up on two chairs and THEN that walking on his hands was a good idea.....I guess it's no wonder why they think M is more fun!!!!!

Christmas Ideas--Post 3 of 3
Several people have been asking me what the boys are interested in these days to aid in Christmas shopping. In response I have been trying to put some ideas together and they are listed here.
A has shown an interest in Ssme St.(particularly Elmo and Grover). E is, of course, in his Spdrmn phase and loves all things related to Spdrmn and maybe Sprmn.
We have started a dress-up box here so if you have anything laying around that the kids might like to dress up in that would be great. (A loves hats so if you have any unusual ones laying around.....)
Also, the boys like to play games with us. We have Hngry Hppo and they love it so any other board games that are similar in difficulty to play. As fas as movies go we have a bunch of Bb the Bildr and Thms the Trn but we have only one VeggiTls movie and E loves it. That's about all I can think of. E has loads of clothes right now and A has all of E's old stuff. E loves to play store but we use the keyboard for a cash register and the trains as the purchases and we use shiny stones as the money. He has a pretty good imagination when it comes to games :-)
Hope that helps everybody. M has said that he is going to stop me from opening presents early this year so your presents will be safe until Christmas if he has anything to say about it.
Nostalgia Moment!--Post 1 of 3
Just for fun I have found a picture of E when he was exactly the same age as A is today. The pictures are here, note they are wearing the same pyjamas(holy hand-me-downs!)
There are definitely some family resemblances but they are also very different looking. E was much taller at this age it seems and more mature looking. A looks more like a baby still.....maybe just my perception?? Enjoy

Fun while I Cook
Garage Play
Well, I haven't put the indoor climbing toy together or had Grndd hang the swings yet but the boys are already going in the garage to play. It was a balmy 16degrees in there this evening(thanks to the heater and new insulation) and the boys were rocking around and E was doing an obstacle bike course that I set up for him. I think we'll get good use out of that garage this winter. I have a few ideas up sleeve for when the walls start to close in around us with snow!!

Funny Daddy
M does this hysterical routine with these monkeys that we have.......they eat food that the kids feed them from their plastic food. Sometimes the monkeys eat the food and sometimes they chew it and spit it out, VERY LOUDLY....it cracks us all up!!! Too bad I can't include the soundtrack of the kids laughing their butts off.

Time for an Update
Not much is new here....We've just been hangin' out and playin'. The boys have had colds so they have been a little low energy and not sleeping well. Today was the first day in quite some time that E has eaten an actual meal and hopefully this is the beginning of him feeling better, heaven knows he had his energy back!
Gdad has been working on the garage and getting it ready for outdoor play for the winter(adding insulation, a heater and new weather-stripping around the door) and I will include some pictures soon of what that will look like.
Anyway, there are two pictures today. One is of the boys doing PlyDh while I made breakfast on Sunday and the other is from today when Baby K came over to play. Her mommy was gracious enough to share her with me for a few hours. The boys love her and after she had left we went out and when we arrived back at home A was pointing around the house asking, "baby? baby?"

Hallowe'en
There is one picture here from last year just for comparison.
Here is the Hallowe'en pictures from our clan. Unfortunately my camera took a dive early in the celebrations. I'm not sure what is wrong with it but it seems to always seize up when there is something interesting going on. I think it is just getting older. Anyway, these two pictures will give you an idea. Too bad they can't convey how much fun the kids had running around outside(the weather was great) and going door to door. Even Adam got in on the act and went to the doors to get treats. Then everyone was back at the house for treat sampling and a little play. Very fun.
