Shed Build Day#2

As soon as it was reasonable this morning they were back in the yard and back at work.
It seems here they are taking a moment to plan their next step.
Grandad let me use his saw to cut one of the wall boards.
So much was accomplished this weekend.
The shed is really taking shape and we love the way it looks and fits into the yard.
We'll keep at it when time permits ... when we're not at baseball of course!

Shed Build Day#1

It was all hands on deck this weekend for the shed build.
Help was recruited from Almonte.
We're making an effort to reduce/reuse/recycle whatever we can so both E and A were kept busy taking nails out of wood from the old shed that could be reused.
This is E working on the back wall with supervision from Grandad.
Of course, you can't work non-stop.
There's always time for a break.

Menu?

My sweet eldest son has offered to create the house menu for June.
I have tried to offer him the benefit of my wisdom, and my spreadsheets(see below), but he assures me he needs no help.
I'll update with his finished menu later.

Race Weekend

Every time we are downtown for a race I'm amazed at the number of people who are there.
Our group does their part to increase the numbers for the day.
We were 14 downtown this year for the run.

So much fun when we're all down there together.

Definitely we take time for pre-race stretches and the like.

Though we find time for some pictures and chit chat of course.

And here are the finishers .... great job everyone.

Learning with Who?

Seemed like a nice day for an experiment and some learning.

The challenge was to build a simple boat with one piece of aluminum foil and see how many marbles it would hold before sinking.
The best boat held ..... 72 marbles.

All together, a good day.

Tuesday, at the end of their co-op session, the boys got to present their animal research projects.
(Unfortunately, I forgot the real camera so I was forced to use my phone.)

Jam Packed Sunday

Looking back at the pictures I can't believe all that we packed into one day.
First stop, was Seven Maples Farm
They had been kind enough to lend us the eggs we hatched out.
However, on the way we made a road stop to help a turtle safely finish his/her? journey across the road.

After a farewell to our sweet chickens and rooster we were zooming up to the campground.
The boys are getting to be quite the skilled frog catchers.
And who should we find there but the OTown cousins.
There was just enough time for a boat ride before dinner.
At least for some of us .... some of us (me) stayed at camp and had a nap.
Aaaaahhhhh ...... camp nap.

The boys were good enough to provide us with firewood for the day.

And before heading back to the city there was time for one more quick boat ride.

Look how big these four boys are getting.
