And also on Strday

AuntiDnna was up for the day with her son Drrk. E was super excited to see them. When I came downstairs in the a.m. he was at the front door with his backpack and flip-flops on. I asked him what he was up to and he said he was leaving to go see AuntiDnna. I mentioned to him that she was quite far away(staying at Grnny's house) and he said that he would take his bike. Thankfully she arrived shortly after that for a quick visit.

Where to Begin......

We have had an action packed weekend starting on Friday. Auntie Jnn came over with her two
boys and we had quite a play. A really loves his little cousin Baby A. He calls him 'Our Baby'. Thanks for sharing your baby Jnn and Aarn.

Then on Satrdy we(Grampy and I) took the boys to FlyDay at the Ottwa FlyClb. Wow was that ever fun.

We live in a beautiful city.

Hot Days in the City

The weather here was quite warm and so we hit the waterpark in the afternoon. E was there as well playing with his friend A. I didn't have my camera with me but these are pics that Grnny took. E didn't make it into any pics but little A was ADORABLE...don't ya' think?

The Wedding

I'm sure most of you know that several weeks ago M and I and the boys went to a wedding in Tornto. Not just any wedding but M's brother's wedding to the sweet Auntie Elzbth. I thought I would include a couple of pics here.

I'm a Big Boy Now----well......almost

I had decided that I was not going to potty train A. It was a lot of work with E and I kind of figured I'd just wait until my chances of success were better.(My mother would argue that I am trying to keep him a baby for some reason). Anyway, yesterday when I was getting A ready for the day he swatted the diaper out of my hand and said, "No". So I figured, what's the harm? I let him run around with just his pants on. The problem was that he stayed dry all morning! Then when I put a diaper on him in the p.m. when we went out he asked to go to the potty. (Several unproductive potty requests later he did go in the potty. What the heck?) Anyway, this a.m. he did the same thing so I let him go without again. He had a bit of an accident but asked again later and did go on the potty. I guess he got tired of waiting for me to train him. Maybe he'll change his mind tomorrow. One never knows with little A but for yesterday and today it was quite exciting (Except the dozen or so nonproductive trips to the potty. But that's just how it goes. For every dozen trips in you get one drop of pee. Hahaha)
Here's a pic of the little guy tonight. I keep forgetting that's he's younger and shouldn't be keeping up to his brother. We were watching a cartoon before bed tonight and when I looked over he had fallen asleep on Grampy.

RcktLnch #2

Well Grampy bought a new rocket system and we tried it out this afternoon. The video is loading now and the pics tell the whole story.

RcktLaunch

I made E a rocket today and Grampy had a great idea for getting it to launch. We will be making some modifications and trying again tomorrow for more height and distance.

These are the sweaters that the boy's Great-Nan made for them. They are SO soft.

Beautiful Mothr's Day

We had a great day today. Church was great this morning and then we had a LONG nap. After that we went to Dw's Lake to see the tulips. I can't believe how big the kids look in these pics!

Guess Who's Here?

So our lucky boys have company again! They are really enjoying their visit with Grampy. They will not leave him alone for even a second, thank goodness he's a good sport! He had quite an early morning today that's for sure.

Also, I received my Mther's Dy gift early as E could not keep the secret anymore. My three boys got me a new bike and a really nice bike trailer that also can be used also as a jogging stroller. I can't wait to join Mrs.K and her two I and R for a bike ride. It even has a spot for toys to take to the park! We took it for a ride tonight with M and Grmpy over to Strbcks(no surprise there) and it works great.

Prchmnt Papr

I feel moved to post on parchmnt papr. You might be wondering why....what's the big deal? Or you might be wondering....has she finally crossed over to the suburban/domesticated dark side? Are issues of baking taking precedence in her mind over issues of world importance like global warming or peace on earth? Well not exactly. World issues are important for sure but everybody writes about those.

So ever since I started cooking/baking I have heard mention of this prchmnt papr. But every time I walked by it in the grocery store I thought.....do I really need this? I've been known to try and stretch a dollar and couldn't justify the $4.00 it would cost. Seeing as how I've spent approximately $58,000 on groceries in the last eight years it seems a little silly in retrospect to have resisted buying it.

Anyway, after a batch of scalloped potatoes left me scrubbing a pan for days I decided to give prchmnt paper a try. It's amazing. I should have been using it for years. Pans come out clean, cookies slide right off and frozen foods separate beautifully. A little thing can make a big difference. So if you haven't tried it.......splurge......

The Beach

Well another beautiful day of weather here in the capital. I couldn't resist posting almost all of the pics. I couldn't decide which ones not to post!!! We even found a toad in the park and were able to 'rescue' him to a nearby tree.

Big Hole

We had quite a bit of excitement around here last evening. Just as we were sitting down to dinner the boys caught sight of Grndd in the backyard starting work on the supports for the play structure. (We wanted to secure up the sides so they could swing more safely)

Well off they were to 'help' Grndd. According to E Grndd would never have been able to complete the job if E hadn't been there to help him dig and announce the completion of each shovelful of dirt moved. A was right out there too saying, 'help help help Grndd'.

Once the neighbours caught wind of the excitement they too came over to lend a hand with their shovels.

Not suprisingly Grndd completed one hole and will need to return to do the other. Just imagine how much he would have only gotten done without his helpers. hahahaha

Thanks Grndd for your patience.

Sunday Special

We had a special day here at the house this afternoon. Auntie J and Uncle A brought D and A over to be dedicated by the pastor. The weather was beautiful and we had the ceremony out in the backyard.

As the little guys get bigger they are starting to play together more and more. They were really cracking us up with their antics.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

It is a beautiful day here. We gave Auntie Jn a call this a.m. and (in spite of the horrible directions I gave her) we met at Dw's Lake. The kids loved it. I can't wait to go back and see what it will look like when all the flowers are up. We have a tentative playdate scheduled in a couple of weeks with one of E's friends so we'll see them then if not sooner!

Despite how it might appear in this pic the kids are not standing on the flowers, there is a walk-in area here for pic taking that gives the impression of being right in amongst the flowers.

ChooChoo

Well things are still busy around here. Grndp Trry left early on Monday morning and Grndm Drdr leaves this afternoon. The boys have really enjoyed having more family around.
A was in the front hall yesterday pretending to be a train. I caught this little bit of video of him doing his thing. Of course the whole time I was doing it E kept trying to butt in on A's moment in the spotlight and do his own choo choo imitation. It made me think of a saying that Nan in Halifax once told me, "The older they get the cuter they AIN'T".
