Why Moves Are Good

I feel I have been a bit whiny about the move lately. So I think it's time I mention some of the positives of moving.

1. People. I have met some great people because of moving. And all of those people have taught me something about the world or about myself. My bestest longest friend I met because I moved junior high schools. My husband I met because I transfered Universities. etc. etc.

2. The kids. Are learning where joy/contentment comes from. It doesn't come from a specific house. Or a specific city. It's not provided by your friends or family. It doesn't come from keeping everything familiar. And it doesn't come from leaving problems behind and starting again.

3. Our marriage. Has grown as our life has changed. There have been no ruts. When things change we are required to adjust and compromise and communicate. Also, we learn to depend on each other. To compensate for each other. And to take turns having our 'move melt-downs'.

Alright, that's enough of that.

Wednesday

Thanks to Grnny the front flower bed is new and improved.

A took this pic with my camera and wanted it included. Done.

What better way to spend a few hours than at the farm. These were my fave animals.

This lady was doing a baking demo and had 4 eager helpers. (from left:CousinD, A, CousinA, E)

Same crew different locale.

E always loves the goats the best. And the white one had the same birthday as him.

You Give Moves A Bad Name

The Cookie Caper

M bought me a new phone today. A cool phone. Prettty exciting and I needed to know how to work it, and to add all my numbers and addresses. So for the first couple of hours after it was turned on I was quite preoccupied. During that time we were at the grocery store and the boys were choosing what kind of cookie to get. Apparently, M suggested that we each pick a box.

AND I AGREED!

Obviously I wasn't listening. My consent sounded something like, "hmm, uh huh."

But they claimed that I couldn't take back the approval. This is a lot of cookies.

This backyard is awesome. The kids had a waterfight before dinner.

Both of our cars needed a safety check and an emissions test. Also, M's car needed an import inspection.

10:00a.m.--M called our local CT#1 and they said they do walk-in safety/emissions...but NOT import inspections. But CT#2 does do them.

10:15a.m.--He called CT#2. They confirmed they do import inspections but do NOT do walk-in safety/emissions.

10:30a.m.--We dropped carA at CT#1(they said it would be 2hours)

11:00-11:45am.--Drove carB to CT#2 and waited the 45minutes for it.

11:45-1:00p.m.--Lunch, PostOffice, Bought a CellPhone

1:30p.m.--After 3hours(not wanting to arrive early) we went back to pick up carA----they said it would be done in 40 more minutes. We waited.

2:15p.m.--We left CT#1 carB for safety/emissions and took carA to the provincial office for the registration paperwork.

3:15p.m.--Success x 1!!!!!

6:00p.m.--As of this writing carB is still at CT#1 We are waiting for the phone call.

We found out later that CT#1 does do import inspections. So we could have dropped them both off this a.m., walked home, and had the day to ourselves. Yup.

Take Me Out to the BallGame

We took a break from our housework to attend a game.

Check out the face paint.

Oh yah. Hanging out at the game.

Twice during the game they hosed down a section of the seats so people could cool down. I circled the boys so you can find them in the crowd.

A New Thing

Having a backyard is a new thing for us again.

We broke out the sprinkler tonight before dinner.

Yesterday...

Bingo! That's what they call these sheets. The #s represent tags that have been placed on your belongings. We had 326 tags. As they enter the house they call out the colour and # of the tag and you mark it off. Turns out....we were missing 30 tags. Seems they were off loaded with someone else's things and they are currently trying to locate them. Some of the missing items include the top of our diningroom table, our bikes, our dehumidifier, the kid bookcase-BIG items. Also, the box that has all our set up items in it. So-o-o-o-o-o-o, we can't assemble anything.
Apparently when you ask God for patience He doesn't give you patience. He gives you experiences that require patience so you can practice it. Good to know.

This is me marking the Bingo sheet. It was hard to resist the urge to yell bingo every time they called out. Blue 129. Red 315. Blue 284. From 9:30-4:00.

There's a game show I used to love called The New Liar's Club. Contestants would listen to celebrities explain strange objects and then decide which celebrity was telling the truth. They were always outlandish. So fun. I was reminded of that game yesterday when one of the movers came and asked me what this was. Any guesses? I'll put the answer at the end of the post.

Also, I wanted to post a couple of pics of the change in paint colour in the front rooms.

This is from the front of the livingroom looking into the diningroom.

And this is looking from the same vantage point to the front hall.

And so you don't worry that our house is still as dirty as it was. Voila! The fridge.

Answer:the post and screws for the piano bench.

Feeling the Love

We are definitely feeling welcomed back here in Canada. And then this morning we arrived at the house early before the unloaders came and look who was in our backyard! A cardinal. This is the official state bird of Virginia.
I wonder...did he fly all the way up here just to make us feel better?

Pics

One of the challenges of traveling with the guineapigs was that we had to find a restaurant that would allow us to put the pigs outside the window where we could supervise them. They would have never lasted in the hot van.

Yup...here we are crossing the border.

And shortly after we crossed what should we see but a Canadian Tire truck. Welcome Home.

Yes indeed. Welcome home.

Did you know we are traveling with the guineapigs? And don't forget the frog!

This is me being very anti-social last night.

Funny Story

Rewind to 2008.
So...those of you who know me know that I like to clean. I genuinely like it. Everything in it's place. All shiny and smelling like cleaning fluid.
When we moved out of our last house I heard that the man who moved in told our old neighbours that it was the cleanest house he had ever moved in to. This pleased me greatly. And I told the boys(all three) that they should put it on my tombstone when I pass.

Fast forward to last week.
I have been trying to get things organized and cleaned up before the move. And it has been annoying the younger two boys.
They asked me,"Why do you have to get everything so cleaned up?"
So I said, "Because when they come to move us I want to hear the movers say that this is the cleanest most organized house they've ever moved!"
All three boys decided this was unlikely.
Fast Forward to Yesterday.
The boys were downstairs getting ready to leave for VBS. I came down the stairs to get them.
The packer said, "Ma'am, you have such a very organized house."
I gasped. I smiled. I said, "Oh my, thank you." I was so tickled. I was prepared to walk on cloud nine all the way to the church with the boys. When E piped up.

He said, "Mom, I told him to say that."

Can you believe it?! What a stinker!! He totally set me up. And he's eight years old! I'm in trouble down the road let me tell you.

Not Making Things Easier

We went for a walk down to the waterfront.

Little did we know that there was a great big b-day party for the city going on.

So the boys got their faces painted.

And had more balloons made for them.

And had a ride on a lawn train.

All because we went on a walk.....gotta' love it.

Drum Roll Please

Another sweet friend took us to their pool for a swim.(When it's this hot you really appreciate it.)
You can see that E was excited to be in the pool.

A was playing with our littlest friend. This Humpty Dumpty game ends in the pool!

Then of course there is the boring side of moving. Waiting. Waiting. And more waiting.
