Gone Fishin'

We figured we'd risk the weather to try and get some fishing time.
There was a surprising variety of fish. And A caught his share.
Luckily there was a photographer there to snap a picture of his biggest catch of the day.

And Then it was Monday

This guy had upper braces (re) applied today.
He was all smiles until about an hour after we left. Then the discomfort hit.
Luckily, big brother came home and lifted A's spirits.
(Some fresh air while walking the dog helped too.)

On Your Marks

When we gather we are a gaggle of people that's for sure.
This weekend was Race Weekend.
And while it seems the older they get the less they want their photo taken ....
... the rule does not seem to apply when they're all together.

Here's my 3 crossing the finish line.
And while I didn't do the race this year I still logged an impressive number of km on Saturday.
First, at the Glebe Garage Sale and then, taking pics at the start, mid point and finish line.

3,595 Days Later- To the Tents!

It has been a terribly long time since we set up camp - tent style.
How long? Almost 10 years. (This link is from that trip.)

It was nice to have the boys help with bringing in and setting up the gear and tending the fire.
(I notice this is rare picture of A without his bug net.)
The only place of respite from the bugs was by the fire.
Needless to say, we spent most of our time there.
All things considered it was a successful camp out.
We had hoped to stay 2 nights but the bugs and the impending rain cut it short.
4 out of 4 of us want to tent camp again this summer.

Hotel 101

Time to find this guy a place to live when he moves this summer.
And as anyone who has been on a house hunting trip knows,
there's a lot of down time ....
...time best spent doing head stands.

Fresh Air

Normally this time of year we're outside all the time.
But it's been raining (and snowing) .... for the longest time.
And though I wouldn't describe today's weather as 'nice', it was nice enough to get out of the city and get some fresh air. A and I decided to go check on how the property made it through the winter.
We had to bring the big tools with us to get the old lock off the gate. (I lost the key.)

We saw a red-white and black woodpecker. And a red-white and black woodclimber.

The place looked great. Quite a few trees down in the back area, probably because of the ice storms this winter. And more water than normal between the properties, but nothing drastic.

Can't wait to get out there and enjoy the summer. (If it ever comes.)

Week is Done

For Adam's co-op this week I channeled my inner Martha Stewart to make an Australia cookie cutter and then a few dozen sugar cookies.
Another mom led the kids in decorating the cookies with geographical highlights.
'A' doing his part of a presentation on the Outback.
And E? Well this week he was downtown at the University doing an enrichment class on application development.
Work on the quilt continues, despite Charlie's attempts to intervene.
Maybe I'll make him a doggie bed quilt.

Look this way!

In the first picture, the dog looks and the boys don't.
Then the boys look, and the dog looks away.
I've wanted to make a quilt for some time and I decided to take the plunge.
So far, I've chosen the fabrics and pieced together the front middle. Next up, the corners and border for the front.
Pictures to follow.
