Ooooh Ca-na---what?

The learning never stops around here.

This summer I'm leading a little unit on Canadian Geography.

To start things off with a giggle I asked the kids .... without peeking ahead of time .....

to draw the outline of Canada with the provincial/territorial boundaries.

Of course, E immediately challenged me to do it along with them.

We had a lot of giggles during the process.
While they won't allow me to share their finished products ....
I'm willing to put mine and M's out there.

Baseball season is upon us. Games on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

One practice each on Sunday.

It's a good thing I like the game because when games are 1h45min and your kid touches the ball once and bats once ... it can get long. 

 

E joined us for an Art Gallery tour on Tuesday.

This was his favourite picture.

There was a clay workshop that A was doing while E and I toured.

Wednesday Update

Today was the last class of a three part Art co-op A had been doing.

Thanks Friend, for stepping in to substitute teach.

 

This silliness was NOT going on while Ern was teaching.

This isn't my E's favourite game but he humoured us by playing along.

And after a delicious meal I found this fortune in my cookie.

E received this yellow sheet from his math teacher. 

And A was evaluated in his swimming class today. Looks like he's moving on up to the next level.

Thank you to the students at Carleton Univ. for their work today with the Virtual Ventures Program.

They provided the right amount of support and allowed the kids to explore their own ideas.

The challenge was to create a lower 'arm' piece that could throw and catch a ball.

Canada From Space

A group of parents west of the city arranged to borrow a great resource from Canadian Geographic (see info. here) and run a workshop.

Luckily, we were able to stay overnight at Granny&Grandad's between the two days. 

 

Mix, Blend, Bake

The cooking unit is coming along nicely. 

Last week A melted & mixed us some rice krispie squares.

He creamed, chilled & baked some cookies.

 

And tonight, with the help of a friend, he rolled puff pastry and filled it with delicious chicken and veggies.

And FYI, the dog is still adorable.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming ..... 

We are working on a cooking/baking unit. Every cook needs their own wooden spoon.

I encouraged A to use the kit he got for Christmas to make his new spoon his own.
