We have been studying temperature for the last couple of weeks. This morning we checked the internet and compared the temps in both capital cities. Turns out it's warmer in Washington. E said, "I'd still rather be in Canada."
Then we attended the base homeschooling group Christmas party. Songs. crafts, games, cupcakes.
We went from there to TKD and then to the house for dinner and their french lesson. Before bed A decided to write a letter to Santa Claus. I have told him the truth but..... When E saw the letter he asked A, "You know there's no S.C. right?" And A said, "Yes. But I want to mail the letter tomorrow." What is that all about?

Fa-La-La-La-La

We were super excited to get started this afternoon with the Chrstmas tree.

It was great to see all the decorations again and get the lights glowing again.
Et voila. We are ready. And it was fun. I love making memories.

TGIF

Yesterday we went over to the park and I made the kids a maze in the sand....super fun.
E's outfit was inspired by our evening plans. We were going to a fellow Candian's house for dinner and a play in their giant basement.
When we got there E said, "This house is kind of like a mansion".
When the night was done so were they.....tired boys.
The two teams were the Super Dads and the Candian Kids.

Yup

One of the advantages of homeschooling is that the boys can have warm, freshly baked banana bread for lunch. yummy.
Look at that awesome jump...he's like Suprman.
And here's his fellow superhero....super Alvn.
When we got home from tkd I asked the boys to change and put their uniforms in the bag....A's got this far and E's were downstairs.....so I started nagging and E said, "Mama, do you remember ever having fun?" --that kid has such a smart mouth sometimes--

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

It has almost become cliche to say those words. But at our house we're still trying to do what we can when we can.
When we have finished with our things we donate them to a second hand store. And we shred our paper to put in the guinea pig cage as bedding.

Lucky us got some great books second hand from someone at M's work.

And we like to recycle space also. After moving the grown-ups from the upstairs big bedroom to the mainfloor bedroom and the kids from the upstairs small room to the upstairs big bedroom to appease our neighbours....we have now moved the grown-ups to the upstairs small bedroom because we are freezing downstairs and the upstairs room is warmer. An upside of this is that I now get to use the awesome antique dresser I bought a while ago and our guests will now have four drawers to use in the new spare bedroom(main floor bedroom). Confused? So was I when I woke up in the middle night and couldn't figure out where I was!! Upside for the kids....they don't have to travel as far when they climb into our bed at night.

In the spirit

M has taken to reading the kids some of 'Christmas Carol' every night before bed. To better get into the mood we decided it would be neat to read by candlelight. The kids love it.

Moving On

Just a few last pics of our recent company.

Our poor guinea pigs had been ignored while our friends were here so M and I cleaned up their cage last night.....they were appreciative.
E has been admiring a L_E_G_O ship and I wanted to see if I could modify our Playmbil ship to his satisfaction. After many minutes of creativity......here's the result. New sails and lego flat pieces on the deck so the mini-figs can stand. I also installed L_E_G_O friendly stairs and made a 'prison' cage. We'll see if it passes his inspection.

Can't Not Be Happy

These are the smiling faces I see around the table in the morning.

It's been game-pa-looza around here for these two. And here's a pic of the babies.
And the weather was perfect for the park.
And here's a little air guitar for you rock and roll fans out there.
