I'm reading, Ethics for the New Millennium, by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. And I came across a passage tonight that had a familiar ring to me.
"...there is nothing exceptional about acts of charity toward those we already feel close to."
It took a bit of searching but I found the passage that had come to mind.
46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more that others? Do not even pagans do that? Matthew 5:46-47
