Gung Hay Fat Choy

Here's E getting ready by packing the treasure boxes.

The first guest arrives and she's dressed for the occasion.

And we sit down to eat. Nian Gao, for prosperity. Chow Mein Noodles, for long life. Oranges, for wealth. Meatballs, for togetherness. Five vegetables for five blessings. And dumplings, for financial gain.

And everybody used chopsticks.

They put those chopsticks to good use later for the pick-up competition.

And a litttle game of pin the tail on the dragon.

Boohoo, the fun is over. What should we celebrate next?

Trente-Cinq

Wasn't he a cute baby??

And everybody loved him. (Much like now.)

I was curious what a computer might have thought this sweet baby would look like as a man.

Here's what the computer aging program came up with.

Not bad really....I think there is definitely a resemblance. So, what might he look like as an old man?

He'll still be handsome. Happy Birthday Sweetheart.

Today's Doings

My etch-a-sketch wake up gift this a.m.

I posted before that I was working on the Ninjago Dojo for the boys. Well....voila! It's finished. I used only LEGO that we already owned. Found instructions for some of it....made up some of it. The boys are happy and I still have $50 in my pocket. (The cost of the Dojo set)

Here's A putting the final touches on our life-size drawing of E.

After going out for a walk this afternoon we stopped at LaMad for lunch.

E started giving A some addition questions at the table. (A likes to do mental math-shrug)

He really had to think about this one. 7,000+4,000=? Ah ha! He figured it out.

This is the new-to-me purse I bought today.

I'm That Good

This is how A kept himself amused while waiting for me to get up this a.m.

While waiting for his turn at the barber's E started a game with his dad.

A took over the game while E was getting his hair cut.

Here they are with their cuts. I don't think either one of them were really thrilled with their cuts. A didn't want a buzz cut, he asked for it a bit shorter all around....hmmm. And E asked for his bangs to be above his eyebrows....and they are. Oh well, hair grows back.

The boys had their eye on a new LEGO Ninjago set. When I saw the box I thought it looked like we already had all the pieces....so I asked the kids to give me a couple of days. I haven't finished the whole thing yet but here are the two side pieces. You can check out the original here.

Fishing for Pigs

I left the kids to play out front while I did some banking. (There was a guard there.)

I snapped these pics through the window.

This is what we call fishing for pigs. The kids put snacks on forks and let the guinea pigs have a treat.

Using their chopsticks for dinner tonight. The meatballs were pretty easy, and the green beans too, but the rice was tricky.

I read them this story while they ate. All part and parcel of our unit on China.

What the Weekend Looks Like

A is so game crazy he is always dragging us into card games.

The boys had a craving for some Dnny's.
A few comprehension questions before the food arrives.
You know how even when you're sad you put a smile on your face?? Well A doesn't.

Mine-All-Mine

I told the kids I'd use this $10 to get tokens at ChckECheese.

Just as soon as they figured out the perimetre of the bill. And the area of the bill too.

The kids have some good friends they like to see at TKD.

Chopped Liver

If I ever worried that I was irreplaceable....that worry has gone.

We have been so fortunate to have some snow this year.

Monday Catch-Up

The boys have finished their Space Unit. Their final test was Friday.

--Our Weekend Away--M and I visited the Newseum on Saturday. We were there 5 hours!!
The tower on the left is from the Berlin Wall. And the pic on the right is part of the museum.
I loved this wall of televisions. And here's M hamming it up as a reporter.
