Friday Wrap-Up

What's causing that look on their face?

A very big spider they found at the park.
Quite the specimen. Perhaps a Cross Spider?
School continues here.
And though we don't see as much of E as we used to .... there are still occasionally sightings.

And for those of you who are interested in the newest family member.

3D

The city library offers the opportunity to create using some exciting technology.
They have two different kinds of 3D printers and a laser cutter/etcher.
But before they let you use it ... there's a required safety course.

One hour of safety training later and we' re set to learn how to create in a new way!
Now we just need to learn how to 3D!!

Game night!
And this time ... I almost won.
 Almost.

Writing Assignment

Yesterday A and I talked about rights and responsibilities.
For example, the right to be safe and have food and housing and health care and education.
Versus the responsibilities of obedience to laws, parents and to caring for our pets and others around us.
So today the assignment was to write a brief description of what family life would be like if people didn't perform their responsibilities.
The result ..... was amusing. I wasn't expecting such an Armageddon kind of approach!

Picture Day?

Well it's picture day and son#1 went off to school in a white t-shirt ... with a dress shirt stuffed in his backpack.
I want to go on the record now as saying I have no idea what to expect from these school pictures when they come in.
To review ... here are their school pics, in collage form, starting from kindergarten.
Son#2 is playing hockey once weekly this year.
So today, after school of course, we're off to the rink to brush up on his skating before tomorrow's first hockey get together.

Received these pics today from M.
He's away with A on a sleepover camp at UCV.

And we know A's happy because there's piglets on the farm.

Cousin Copies

I had a great day yesterday with my older 'sis and her kids.
The four boys get along so well.
But it always amuses me how they like to pair off .....
..... the two youngest ....

... and the two oldest. Slam dunks!
Each set has a 'secret' handshake!

And when you see them together it's funny how they do tend to act like/look like each other.
Here are the youngest ... both in blue shirts with characters on them ... both executing crazy jumps.

Here are the oldest ones .... both wearing solid color shirts in neutral colors .... both jumping feet first and looking to see where they will land.

What Are the Odds?

The odds of being born in June?
About 1 in 12.

1 in 3 people have blue eyes.
1 in 10 children are still sucking their thumbs at age four.

1 of 50 school-aged children in Canada are home schooled.
1 in 200,000 people have Alopecia Universalis.
E is starting school next week.
He's fun ... he's smart ... he's outgoing.
His school is getting a one in a million kid.
I have said before that he is the bravest person I know. But actually, he's the most courageous. Bravery implies he feels himself bigger than any situation he is in; that he faces challenges without fear. But that's not accurate. He is afraid but has the courage to push on undaunted towards his goal.
