Follow Up

After the last photo there has been some amusing discussion about my genetic influence on my kid's fashion sense. I think it can all be best summarized by this photo that my sweet sis' sent me. This is a flashback that hurts!

Hodge

I have always been surprised that M and I, two totally average looking people, created these adorable creatures. Though as time goes by it becomes more evident that they did get some of our genes. E has become focused on getting his hair to lay down flat. Very flat. And A, well I think the picture is self-explanatory. Orange shirt, red swimsuit, high blue socks, mismatched shoes....and he did the mismatched shoe thing on purpose.

This is A helping me make dinner. M and I had bacon and cheese quiche and the kids had scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese and nuts. All the elements of our meal but not mixed together.

We had a quiet time this afternoon and A chose to have his nap inside this tunnel that we have. We found him in there with his stuffed animal. So sweet.

Shhh....Don't tell J

O.K. here is the background. J pulled out the lego for the kids and built E his Lgo Str Wars spaceship. Of course, A wanted to play with it and J said that she would build him whatever he wanted. He then picks one of the largest, if not the largest, lego machine in the Bfoot inventory. This task includes two 40 page manuals and many many pieces of lego hidden in the proverbial haystack. She works on it for about 2 hours last night, finishing at about midnight. She recommences in the morning at 0800hrs. At 1000hrs, she is almost done but the entire family is recruited to find two gears that cannot be found in any of the piles and bags (read haystacks) of lego. She completes the job but is disappointed that the two gears, which allow the wheel to move when the vehicle is in forward motion, were never found. Now here is the funny part, she goes out this afternoon to get some tasks done before we go out this evening for dinner, I am prepping a snack for the kids when A says, "Oh! Here are the gears on the kitchen counter". We are soooo dead...HAHAHA.

Anatomy of A Window

My livingroom windows have been in need of a cleaning for some time. So today was the day.

First I had to take out the screen and remove the storm window glass. The storm window needed to be washed and windexed.
Then I washed the interior wood parts of dust. And then windexed the panes of glass inside and outside.

Then I just had to reassemble the window. I did that 8 times. And had very clean livingroom windows. Check out the before and after.

A assembled some of the L-E-G-O heads today and made a tower. Also, lucky us had taco night tonight.
The boys are now at the point where they like to assemble their own tacos. And E created this tater-tot boat with a ground beef man on top with cheese paddles.

Out on the boat on Sunday the boys decided to go for a swim. Maybe I'll jump in next time.

Home At Last

Lucky us...daddy is at home until Monday. One nice day of sunshiny weather was enjoyed.

The next day it was SO hot. We went up to Baltmre to see some ships(daddy's idea).

We went on an old sailing ship and also a coast guard ship. (The last surviving ship that was present when PearlHarbour was attacked.)

To get out of the heat we then went over to the aquarium for a while.

They have a great exhibit on right now about jellyfish.

The boys asked us if they could have a `day off`. So today they have done nothing but become reacquainted with their toys. They didn`t even change out of their p.j.`s all day!!!

Total Travel Distance??

In kilometres: 5172

In miles: 3214

Ten Tidbits of Our Trip
  1. I had one great idea: Let's go back to Canada for a trip.
  2. Lucky me met two new babies born since I left last year.
  3. We were travelling for three weeks.
  4. Our travels involved four flights. (Coincidentally also the number of pounds I gained.)
  5. There were five grandparents we saw on this trip.
  6. In total we slept in six different beds.
  7. They were lucky enough to reconnect with seven of the kids friends.
  8. We ate at McD's eight times. (Not that I'm complaining)
  9. E reeled in nine fish on our fishing trip. (Updated:July23/2014. E claims a haul of 15 fish. Grandpa has 'confirmed' this number.)
  10. We saw ten deer on our way back from swimming to the trailer.

One Last Hurrah

Today we finally made the trip home. It has been epic. Thank you to everybody who opened their home to us and who worked around our schedule so we could see all the people we love. Thank you.
On our way to the airport we stopped by a friend's house so I could meet someone new. And we could snap a pic of our boys with their girls.
Goodbye was hard.

A Few More Days

There's something about my kids and pets. I think they would like to live in an animal sanctuary. One of their favourite things about this trip is seeing people's pets.
We spent another night at Nana's last night. I suggested a checkers game between A and Nana.
After church today we went for OlveGardn.

Where Are We?

We arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's Trailer.

How cool is this suspension bridge? Sure is high up there.

A water break during our hike. Back across the bridge we go.

Quick cool down at the pool. When it was time to go A made a water print.

Time to fish. First, we drove even further into wilderness. Then went took a boat across the first body of water. Then we were driven across an island to reach the fishing camp. (approx. 1654miles/2661km from my home in VA)

And did we ever catch fish. Fifteen of them. E never got tired of it. A wasn't so sure. If you ever want to go fishing in MB I would recommend this place. It describes itself as a "remote lodge located on the edge of the Canadian wilderness". http://www.crowducklakecamp.com/

The best way to end the day.........ice cream. Ice cream we found once we left the wilderness and got a bit closer to civilization.
