Legofest

Wondering why the smiles?
Legofest.
It was in Michigan this weekend and that's just a jump and a hop from here.

E did a session with a Master Builder and A decorated a tile to add to the LEGO art wall.

There was a giant lego city that you could add to using small square bases.
E made a phone booth/TARDIS. I made a church. A made a tall tower.

Can you think of anything more tempting than a mountain of LEGO?
How about using it to bury yourself.

Bliss.
And there were sets to look at. Sets and sets and sets.
Cities and castles, pirates, cowboys, Hogwarts and animals

We couldn't resist getting a few pictures of us with the creations.

And M, who seemed caught up in the LEGO excitement, took a trip through the store before we left. Which worked out well as E then had something to do on the 4.5hour drive back.

And today the boys were able to make up the work they missed because of Friday's travel day.
Lucky boys.
Nothing says, 'the party is over', like an afternoon working with the periodic table.

Amusez-moi!

So, the kids had fun this morning with their friends .... in the pool ... playing ps3 .... building LEGO.
But then the afternoon stretched out before me and I couldn't think of what to do.
So when they asked me what we were doing next I said,
"Amuse me. I spend a lot of time planning and accommodating activities that you two like to do. Now it's my turn to be amused."
There was some concern at first that they didn't know what I liked to do but they accepted the challenge.
First up, headstands. Well done boys.

Next on the agenda, watching a sword fight.
En garde.
;
They even showed me the sword throwing trick they've been working on.
They were great about checking in to see if I was enjoying myself.
(E brought me ice cream with chocolate chips at one point. Yum!)

While I had my bath they pulled out the paints. And we had a great time with those.
To be sure we didn't miss pre-bed chapter they took turns reading while we painted.

And voila our paintings. Mine are the conductor and the kids looking at the fish, E painted a ship at sea, A painted a ship also and a cache of medieval weaponry.

And I was thoroughly amused.
Thank you boys. Tomorrow I'm back on the job.

Happy Easter

Bad news .... our visit with V was over. Good news .... we were going to her house for Easter.
We played an infuriating fun game of Catan.
There was egg colouring experimentation.

Good times.
Sunday morning, UncleJ had his camera ready ... AuntieE had the eggs hidden well ... Max was on the chocolate scent ... E was waiting ever so patiently for me to get up and get ready to watch the egg hunt. And then the hunt was on.

And then it was good-bye for now.
LittleV was dressed in a fabulous outfit, complete with her mama's heels.

Medieval Fun

We weren't quite sure what to expect. But whatever we had anticipated was surpassed.

The first surprise was for A. Our true medieval fanatic.
I had arranged for him to be 'knighted' by the king prior to our meal.
He was super surprised and very impressed.

The excitement builds as we wait for the show and dinner.
After he said, "I didn't know what it was going to be like. But it was better than anything I imagined."
