Monday Catch-Up

The boys have finished their Space Unit. Their final test was Friday.

--Our Weekend Away--M and I visited the Newseum on Saturday. We were there 5 hours!!
The tower on the left is from the Berlin Wall. And the pic on the right is part of the museum.
I loved this wall of televisions. And here's M hamming it up as a reporter.

Friends

We had a couple of the kids sweet friends over to play yesterday.

And were lucky enough to share a meal with two of them after their TKD class.

Amen. (Check out those awesome pink boots on K.)

What do you think they are talking about in this pic?

Half Way

The boys are getting used to their new bowling league. This group doesn't allow the use of bumpers.

They have had to get used to rolling quite a few gutter balls.
Spelling test on Friday.....100% E is working on dictionary work here.

Guess who's here.....we had a great lunch at a local restaurant.
Just wanted to include a picture here of how E's bruise is coming along.

Thursday Stuff

We were among the first to arrive at the puppet show today. But some other people soon arrived.
The puppets told the story of The Wright Brothers. And then we had lunch with friends.

They even had a little ice cream treat. Then they started roughhousing and E took a header into the tile floor.

He pulled it together and we had a chance to see some of the exhibits.

This one was a hit.

We even had time at the end of the day for some TKD. Check out A's split!!

Bye Bye Friends

These boys have been good friends for the last year.

But today was their last 'hurrah'. It's back down under for our friends.

We are wrapping up our Space Unit. Today the boys used a projector to draw some space cartoons.

5,4,3,2,1...Blast Offff!!!!!

Rockt Science is soooo fun! We decided to build a model rockt and launch it as part of the kid's space science unit. So we bought one a couple of weeks ago, I built it, and we launched it this past Sat. Of course, we had to have some astronauts. Below is a pic of our astronauts "Derek" and "Jawa" standing next to their rockt CANADA 1. They had a rigorous trg regime before actually going for launch.

Here is the ground crew prepping for launch. Astronauts secured and have completed pre-flight checks.

We only used intorductory engines for the test flights. So the rocket flew to about 150' before reaching apogee and igniting the secondary charge to eject the parachute. Here are some pics of the launch and the recovery.

Of course, when the astronauts returned, they had a hero's welcome. Three of the city's finest police officers and one of the local firefighters raised Derek and Jawa onto their shoulders as the rest of the program staff gathered round. What a day! J will load a video later tonight.
