Buckle Down or Blow It Off?

It's that time of year again. We're losing momentum. The weather is getting nice. Parks are fun again and friends are gardening. It's getting very difficult to keep our heads in the books.

So I pose the question ..... Buckle Down or Blow It Off?

Should we get done what's left of our school year. Some math, Latin and History.
Or should we start the summer early.
Please vote in the poll on the right.

I refer all lifes question to a poem by kipling.
The poem is called IF

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

It depends... Will you make them catch up later or can you drop it and leave it where it lands. I say if you have to pick it up again, keep going... But anything else, let it die by the side the road on your way to my house.

Hmmm....that is a hard one. I mean, the thing is that if you will have to go back and finish later, then maybe you should just finish now instead, but if not, then I agree with the other comment that you should let it fly away and have fun in the sun instead!

I don't think "catch up" is in the Barefoot homeschool program!Both E & A are far beyond anything that is taught in a classroom. Not just because they are my grandsons but because they are very smart boys who have been blessed with an amazing teacher. Not only is she their teacher but she is their mom who can see far beyond anything that a public school system could or would see. So there you go, I do believe you know what my vote is...YES! You know better than anyone Johanna what the answer is to this question. Go with whatever it is.....you have the advantage here...you are both the teacher and the mom.

Blessings...with lots of love.

Ha!

Buckle down and get it done.

I hate to be the spoiler of fun but J says I'm too good at it.

While I think that the boys are very well educated and incredibly intelligent, I also think that there is an important lesson to be learned in forging ahead and getting the lessons done - discipline.

We can't always do what we want and that is one of the hardest lessons that we ever learn, assuming that we ever do...
