We had a blast at the hockey game on Sunday.
(I was able to drag my sick self out of the house long enough.)

And the boys have really enjoyed working on their coin collections with Grndma while she's been visiting.

Little man has found a new love in whipped cream from a can.

Unfortunately with me sick they have been remiss in keeping their things tidy. When this antibiotic kicks in they are going to feel a kick from me to them!!

Back in the Sadddle

Back from the Brink

It's been a long week of this......thanks to everyone who took a turn with him.

And A has been trying to keep himself busy with quiet activities like games and drawing.

But I'm really hoping we've turned a corner around here. E slept last night for 8 hours!!
And A continues to be his happy self.

I was talking to M about possibly needing to purchase another laptop, so that while they were playing I could also use a computer. But A overheard me and said that if we got another latop then all three of them could battle at the same time. Yah. Not happening.

I mean it.


And since a clean kitchen seems to happen ever so infrequently around here I wanted to document it for prosperity.

Antonyms

Yin-Yang, chocolate-vanilla, night-day, hot-cold, healthy-unwell.
My two boys are not the same. Sometimes their differences seem to fade into the background of my awareness. But then something will happen to remind me.
This weekend one of the boys is ill and so he's seems more needy, more sleep deprived, more emotional than normal. (Here he is on his make shift sick bed in the livingroom.)

And by comparison his healthier brother seems more independent, more energetic, more even tempered.

Purchases

We got this display from the museum store that was closing. We also got another one that is blue. These are going to come in very handy with LEGO.

And these couches are new-to-us and the boys love them...perfect for the basement.

It was this guy's birthday today. Love you babe. You're more handsome every year.

We wanted to take M somewhere he wanted to eat for lunch so we went for Lebanese food.
Just for the record....hummus and pita=yummy.......pickled turnip=gross.

We joined some other hockey enthusiasts for a great game this afternoon after lunch.
(This was our 2nd game of the day because E played at 10a.m.)


Then we dropped by G2K's for an early dinner.

And a surprise birthday cake that the boys had worked on with Grnny on Saturday.

Big day. Time for a bubble bath.
E-Not division! It's my week off.
A-Mom, come see how awesome I am.
E-We won't need to negotiate long if you just agree with me mom.
A-Can I just say, he's p*ssing me off!
M-I stand corrected.
E-Do you think if Nana asked God to rain fire down on someone He would do it?
E-Thanks for not making us eat what dad is having for dinner.
E-Mom-Dad, are you mind talking?
E-I think Grandad thinks I'm awesome.

Remember that ninja who passed through the kitchen the other day? This is his brother...clone trooper.

Today we tried out a new indoor play area with some other homeschoolers.

This one even had an air gun area. You'd think it would be hard to get them to leave. But knowing Grnny was standing outside her place with a plate of cupcakes made it easy.

So remember I said the kids were being so kind the other day? It's something new they are trying. I came down on them the other day for being so snarky with each other. And then I assigned them a writing activity describing the 'awesomeness'of their brother.

Being Busy

We have had a leak from our washing machine since we moved in and it drives us bonkers!
Last week I could take it no longer. There was a shock piece that was obviously damaged and we figured we'd start there. ($84 kit from Sears!) After replacing the two bottom shocks and tightening the bolts in the drum....problem solved. We've done 7 loads of laundry and not a drop.

The boys had a Cub/Beaver day on Strday. E's activities were mostly outside.

A's group spent some time insde also.

While M was tagging along with the boys on their day....I had the day to myself.

Yesterday after church the boys didn't want to leave the house so they had some friends over and had all kinds of fun. I caught this photo as A ran through the kitchen.

And that brings us to this a.m. Sweetheart E came down to make my breakfast for me. And then sweetheart A made breakfast for his brother.
(There's more to the story of all this kindness but I'll blog about that tomorrow.)

Co-Op Build

These were men with a plan.

At co-op today the boys were building with friends and they wanted to get the marble to go off the ramp of one set and onto another set.

A little trial and error and they got it!!
