Snap-Splash-Thunk-Munch

This is the kind of poem we worked on today. These two know a lot of sound effects.
This guy was getting disctracted by his brother's yips today so I let him work with music.

Getting his work done.

We were stunned when we went out today to see that our old friend 'Frnkln' the turtle has been joined by some other turtles.

We went to a great birthday party today. Psst. Is it just me or do they look big?

I'm just putting this out there.....these boys need a younger sibling!

On Wednesday the kids had their end of year concert at bible study.

It was totally cute.

Why They Didn't Miss Me

I hadn't had the chance to upload pics of the boys visit to Grndma & Grndpa's.

They learned about Japan.

Played in some really cool places.

They went wall climbing.

Played some bball.

Went swimming.

Went bowling.

Saw some hockey.

And saw the Hrlm Globetrotters.

They practiced their skipping.

They played mini-golf.

They even convinced some kitties to be their friends.

They certainly knew where they were....and where I was.

Oh ya, they also got to touch a great big bar of gold.

And they checked out some other money too.

Great pics don't you think?? Thanks GrandmaD for taking the pics.

Kids

This is a cool thing A made on his etch-a-sketch.

And our bowling league continues. E won bowling youth of the week! THAT'S how cool he is.

Here's A counting syllables in his last poem.

And we had soccer. One of the kids had his birthday yesterday so there was ice cream after soccer. Yummy.

Election

I am quite pleased with the election results. Pleased that the Conservatives won. Pleased that the NDP gained seats. Pleased that the BQ lost a lot of seats.

I did notice tonight while watching the election results that a lot of the people on the coverage seemed to have these strange accents. Do I have that accent? Or have I lost it? I wonder how long it will take before I stop noticing it? And how long until I get mine back?
I want to sound Canadian!!

FromA-You don't know that!?! It's a good think you have us to learn from Mom.
FromE-You'd be surprised how long it takes us to pull ourselves to gether Granny.
FromA-Dad, why can't you stay home and teach us and have mommy go to work?
FromA-Mom's probably taking so long because she's painting her nails again!
FromE-If you could magically travel you could go back and get evidence to prove Jesus is real.
FromE-You really take good care of guinea pigs, probably because you take good care of us.
FromA-Don't worry, there were mommies even fatter than you in there.
From E-You really need to come and help us. We are getting unfocused.
From E-This is a problem mom. You're texting at the lunch table.
From A-That looks like a lot of pancakes E...you're probably going to want to share those.
From E-Mom doesn't understand because she isn't a grandma yet.
From E-You have two quirks mom, your clean house and your diet coke.
From A-You can use my blanket mom if you don't puke on it.
From E-Some of these movies are very uncivilized!

Weekend Round-Up

Since my fave restaurant stopped serving my fave pizza flatbread we decided to try another local pizza place.

This place just recently opened on KingSt. It was o.k. Not great. Just o.k. But my dinner company was great.

This guy brought his camera. I felt like the paparazzi were there!

M always says that we only do baking when we have a playdate planned. So last night the boys and I made some 'just because we love daddy' muffins.

When we visited the B&O Railroad Museum I was taking pictures that I thought looked like the letters in our last name. Then yesterday I bought a frame from Mchael's CraftStore(on sale). This will hang on the wall in the train room at our next house.

Spring

Let me set the stage. The kids had bible study yesterday and afterwards we stayed to have a picnic lunch and play on the structure.
However, I 'caught' the kids learning!! One of the boys had just borrowed a new book from the library about the most dangerous creatures in the world. His sister was taking a moment to explain something. Check out how she's holding the book like a 'teacher' and how they are gathered in front of her like 'students'. The boys told me later that more people die from bee stings every year than from shark bites....who knew??

A likes to make sure he sets aside a little time to spend with his favourite almost one year old.

After putting a puzzle together we tried gluing it permanently. I'll let you know how this turns out.

School didn't start until after lunch today. Lunch at the park. Doesn't get much better than this.

And today's poetry.

Webkinz-From A

Webkinz are cute

Webkinz are adorable

You can log them on Webkinz World

I could play with them all day

Sad-From E

We feel sad

We feel sad

for our grandad.

He feels sad

He feels sad

because his dad died.

Many Moods of Mario

Yoshi-(A)
Yoshi has a long tongue
He can eat Goombas
Yoshi is our super hero

Mario and Yoshi-(E)
Up goes Mario
Down onto Yoshi
Up Yoshi jumps
Down goes Yoshi
Down down down he goes
Down the tube
Watch out there's a Goomba about
Slurp-Hooray
Yoshi is our super star

Mario-(J/A/E)
Mario can jump and run
He and Luigi have lots of fun
In this game there are guys good and bad
If you don't save the princess it is way sad
Yoshi will help him but Bowser will kill
When Mario's with Toad no spaghetti will spill
Yikes! Watch out!
There's a goomba about
But Yoshi's a hero he will save the day
He'll swallow the goomba. Hip-hip-hip-hooray!!

It Was a Hot One

E and A started their soccer clinic today. They loved it. Did I mention it was 31' here today?

Here are 'the boys'. They love to be together and get along wonderfully. Even though A is 2+ years younger than them all.....no problem. These are great kids.

And the road construction continues.

These guys have been fantastic. No rough language. And someone came over yesterday and today and answered some questions we had.

No night is complete without a game before bed. It's normal to sit in the middle of a train track right?

HomeSchool Rocks

We started our Poetry unit today. The kids made pocket folders to hold their work.

E wrote his first piece today. Totally his own idea and work (my spelling).

Little light in the night

Sparkling small and bright

There goes a plane that's passing by

Little star keep your spark

One of the things that's great about homeschooling is knowing that the kids are eating well every day. They had homemade pancakes for breakfast. This was their lunch and a nutritious dinner of roasted chicken/sweetpotato fries/veggies.

On our walk today we saw that the street in front of our house was being resurfaced. HOW COOL! The workers invited us back tomorrow to see them put a new top on.

Then we had a little stop at the park before coming back to the house to finish dinner.
