Here's my seasoned explorer listening to the audio guide at MountVernon today.
They have ha-ha walls on the estate. Essentially Mr.Washington wanted to leave the view of the grounds intact while stopping the farm animals from approaching the house lawns. So he had low brick walls built at the edge of the house lawn that stop the animals but not the pretty landscape.
The big excitement of the day was finding a box turtle. A wanted me to be certain that I mentioned on the blog that he was the one that found it.

The grounds were really well kept and it seems that there are constantly new things to see.
We went in the Children's Interpretive Centre and A tried on this cute coat.
